Welcome and Announcements

✥✥ God Calls His People ✥✥

* Call to Worship  (based on Colossians 2:3; Revelation 5:12)

The Lord Jesus who calls us to worship Him today

is the same Jesus who refused the temptation

to worship the evil one.

Rather than receive the glorious kingdoms of this world,

He endured the shame of the cross,

and today is Lord of lords and King of kings.

Now are gathered in Him all the treasures

of wisdom and knowledge, glory, and power.

With the saints of all ages we say,

“Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain,

to receive power and wealth and wisdom

and strength and honor and glory and praise!”

* Hymn of Adoration # 693 ... “Blessed Assurance”

* Prayer of Invocation (based on Psalm 146:1-2)

* The Lord’s Prayer

* The Confession of Faith  (Westminster Shorter Catechism)

Who is the redeemer of God’s elect?

The only redeemer of God’s elect is the Lord Jesus Christ,

who, being the eternal Son of God, became man, and so was,

and continueth to be, God and man in two distinct natures,

and one person, forever.

✥✥ God Cleanses His People ✥✥

Call to Confession  (Zechariah 3:1-3)

“Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right side to accuse him.  The LORD said to Satan, ‘The LORD rebuke you, Satan!  The LORD, who has chosen Jerusalem, rebuke you!  Is not this man a burning stick snatched from the fire?’  Now Joshua was dressed in filthy clothes as he stood before the angel.”

Confession of Sin  (silent prayers of the congregation)

Assurance of Pardon  (Zechariah 3:4-5)

“The angel said to those who were standing before him, ‘Take off his filthy clothes.’  Then he said to Joshua, ‘See, I have taken away your sin, and I will put rich garments on you.’  Then I said, ‘Put a clean turban on his head.’  So they put a clean turban on his head and clothed him, while the angel of the LORD stood by.”
