Good Works
For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. -- Ephesians 2:10
Below is a list of church projects which need our attention or are currently being worked on. Also listed are the names of people to contact if you would be interested in making and keeping God's house the best it can be.
Grounds (contact person: Paul Durham)
- Continued cleanup of the grounds: weeding, mulching, planting, continuous improvement. Every Thursday morning there's a group of easy-goin' folks, called The Thursday Crew, who work on these projects. They'd love to have you join them! The Thursday Crew also takes a long coffee break which often includes gourmet pastries.
- Tool trailer. Continue to outfit and prepare for service. Please pray that God will bless this important outreach ministry and be in prayer too about how you can help with donations of equipment or money. For more information, contact Rich Jones, Paul Durham, or Steve DeWolf.
- Stain fence around big a/c unit. Work nearly complete.
- Painting light poles satin black. Work completed. Painting of railings in progress.
- Replaced four broken poles that were crushed by a truck.
- Hung new signs inside of church.
- Spent several hours clearing brush and briars from the back of our lot.
- Aerated all of our lawns.
- Repaired broken volleyball pole.
- We have several jobs planned for the spring to help us with our continuous improvement plan.
Building (Contact person: Barry Walker)
Old Business
• Re-finish the Communion table in the sanctuary (Jim Wert to complete)
• Move church organ to make more room for the praise team's growing needs (requested by Kristen Walter)
• Build shelves in the Bell Room This will be constructed by Arnie and Barry.
• Estimated Cost $250 with partially donated materials. Not undertaken at this time
• Plan a scheduled maintenance program for plumbing (bathrooms in particular), electrical (lighting, proper light switch use in sanctuary, etc), mechanical, building proper (HVAC, wallpaper, doors, windows, etc), and major cleaning.
• Building Security Committee -Final report of Bob Justus's team is still unfinished.
• Bob and I spoke and he is still awaiting final costing of a complete alarm system but this has been delayed by the alarm company. We are pushing for some sort of final determination before presenting this to the Deacons.
Projects Fully Completed
• Leaky Boiler Valve Summey Plumbing has replaced the leaky valve - Charge was $2285 and paid in January 2008. Extra maintenance cost not included in HVAC replacement
• HVAC Replacement has been completed for a total cost of $35,426.74 less a donation/discount of $7500.00 for a net cost of $27,926.74. The final bill has been paid as of February 2008. This cost did not include the breaker installation by the electrician (I believe this cost was $1300.51 to Lotus Electric). Also the deacons under Paul Durham installed the concrete pad for around $200.00. Therefore, the actual final cost of the HVAC replacement, electrical work, concrete work plus the pump repair totaled $29,427.25. These funds have been paid.
Long Range Planning
• Church Roof needs replacing. No further action since last month.
• Sound Acoustic planning for fellowship hall. Rich Jones and I plan on expanding the sound system in this area to allow for improved recording capabilities as well as improving the sound system for performances. This will be completed utilizing existing budgeted funds and the major acoustic issues will be addressed for future consideration.
